VMHMC Volunteers for Mental Health in Montgomery County
For over 40 years, people passionate about helping other people have joined Volunteers for Mental Health in Montgomery County to provide support for individuals here in our home! All of this has been accomplished through the talents of people just like you! The organization serves through three major programs and an array of other opportunities. VMHMC is always seeking to extend its impact on improving mental health and actively seeks new opportunities to do so!
- TEACHER FRIENDS: VMHMC seeks to help lighten the load of Montgomery County teachers by serving as a conduit for volunteers to serve in local classrooms. Opportunities, locales, and time blocks are varied and are personalized to the volunteer's wishes. The greatest beneficiaries of help are our children who are in need for reinforcement, enrichment, or remediation. School corporations have background check protocols, and the VMHMC provides scholarships to assist those who need help with the fee.
- CHRISTMAS GIFT LIFT: This program works with local facilities to determine the needs of their clients, and then works with Montgomery County community to help fulfill their wishes. Volunteers are crucial to this program to assist with order fulfillment, wrapping, and delivery.
- BRIDGE VOUCHER PROGRAM: Many students are in need of support through counseling that exceeds the time or role of school counselors. To augment the excellent help the school counselors provide, this program provides matching funds to work with local school corporations to provide students with vouchers which are redeemable at partnering mental health counseling agencies.
